How to do a Condy's Crystal bath, also known as potassium permanganate.

Who would benefit from this?

Condy's Crystals or potassium permeate is an antimicrobial and drying agent. This would benefit anyone with a skin infection, for example, impetigo or school sores or infected eczema, or those with skin diseases causing the skin to weep, for example, eczema.

Step one

Fill the bath to the desired level and add a very small pinch of Condy's Crystals to make the water light pink in colour. The amount of Condy's Crystals you need will vary depending on the amount of water in the bath. For a domestic bath, you will only need about a quarter of what is shown here.

Step two

Mix the Condy's Crystals into the bath until dissolved. The bath is now ready for your child. Always use a cream cleanser during the bath to prevent your child's skin from becoming dry. There is no need to rinse your child's skin after the bath.
