Children's Health Queensland's 0-4 years Child and Youth Mental Health Service (CYMHS) is a free service that helps support the social emotional wellbeing of babies, young children and their families. Our multidisciplinary team of social workers, speech pathologists, occupational therapists, nurses and psychologists are here to ensure your child get off to the best possible start in life.

0 to4 child and youth Mental Health Service or Kims is a free Queensland Health Service we support the social emotional well-being of babies and young hello every family and child is welcome here we all have ideas about the kind of parent we want to be but sometimes things get in the way of that when we think about how our own parents raised us there are things we'd like to do the same and things we'd like to do differently Zer to four kins is a place to think about these ideas byby we did it we also think about all of the wonderful things babies and young children bring to us their temperament their strengths and struggles and their emotional needs just to name a few sometimes our little people seem to experience big feeling that they can't put into words yet it may be hard for us to understand their behaviors and know how to respond no matter how hard we try our relationship with them isn't the way we'd like it to be at 0 to4 Kims we can help get the communication between babies and young children and their track we work in a team of people with different experience and expertise our mental health clinicians come from a variety of backgrounds including psychology Social Work nursing occupational therapy and Speech Pathology the Z4 Kim's team is led by child psychiatrists but not all of our families need to see the doctors who your family sees really depends on the type of help you need there are other people you might meet during your time with us like our Aboriginal and tus straight Islander coordinator or our consumer and career coordinator hi my name is Courtney and I'm the Statewide Aboriginal T rate Islander coordinator here at Z to4 Kims I work with our clinicians to help support our Aboriginal and T straight Islander families and help maintain a culturally safe space here at the Cottages hi I'm Nikki and I'm the Statewide consumer career coordinator at 0 to4 Kims my role here is that I use my own personal lived experience of perinatal mental health challenges and also as the parent of two children that have had their own mental health challenges to support parents on their journey through our service as understands you might meet our therapy dogs tonker and cookie they work at the Cottages doing important things like welcoming our families napping and playing if you or your child don't really like dogs just let us know our first few appointments are to get to know you and your child as well as what you would like help with we might ask questions about their behavior emotions sleep development and any medical conditions or disabilities we will learn a bit about who lives with you and your child the extended family and any additional supports you have in place sometimes little people in their families have been through some tough or frightening times knowing about this is important for us to make sense of what is happening for your little one but you don't have to share any more than what you are comfortable with you might come to an appointment at n Cottages or our staff might come to visit you in your home or another place you feel comfortable like a local park sometimes we might need to talk by Telly heal after we meet we can talk together about whether 0 to four Kims is the right service for your family and if now is the right time to start working research tells us that little people learn about their feelings and how to regulate their emotions through their caregivers we might spend time developing this relationship through play together while some sessions might just be with a child's parent to make sure parents have the space to reflect experiences the team at 0 to4 Kims walks alongside you to help your child get off to the best POS possible start in life to learn more or to get a referral to our service talk with your doctor or healthc care professional you can also
