Whether you're here for a day procedure, a short stay or longer the care teams will do their best to make you feel as comfortable as possible.

It's good to know that there's a number of teams involved in your care and there's also some more important information you'll need to know while you're here.

Outpatient areas are located on several different levels of the hospital on levels 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6. Your parent or carer will check your letter which will tell you exactly where to go.

If you need some special scans done to help the doctor see what's making you feel sore or unwell this is where you'll come to Medical Imaging on level one.

It's actually pretty cool because having something like an x-ray means the doctors can see inside your body.

If you do need to have an x-ray maybe to see if you have a broken bone this is the kind of room you'll be taken to.

Here you will meet one of the people taking a special photo to see inside your body. They are called a radiographer. The radiographer will gently help you move into a position on the table and move the equipment around so that the light will shine on the area of your body that needs to photo taken.

It's really important that you stay nice and still when the photo is being taken so the image comes out clearly and the doctors can see if there's anything wrong.

Another Special Machine which can take a more detailed look inside your body is this machine, it looks a little like a giant donut. It's called a CT scanner.

Once the radiographer has helped you onto the bed they'll slowly move you in and out of the machine you may go in head first or feet first when you have a CT skin and you may also need to hold your breath for a short time when they take the photos.

But again the most important thing to remember is to say really still.

You may need some blood collected when you come to hospital so it's really important to listen to instructions and be as still as you can.

Blood tests can be done on Level 3 if you're an outpatient. Or if you are staying in the hospital the blood test may be done in your ward.

There is a pharmacy located in the hospital on level 2. This is where your parent or carer can collect your medications.

On level 2 just opposite the pharmacy you'll find essential resources service. This is where you can come to collect clinical consumables which are provided to outpatients after discharge for ongoing care at home.

Throughout the hospital there are lots of other people to help you feel better as well like occupational therapists, physiotherapists, dietitians and speech therapists. They are all located on level 6.

If you have any other questions remember you can find more information on our website www.childrens.health.qld.gov.au or call us on 07 3068 1111.
