The Children’s Hospital Foundation is the official charity of the children's hospital and funds lots of things like important research and special equipment to help sick kids get better and go home.
There's lots of things in the hospital that are made possible by the Children's Hospital Foundation.
It won’t take you long to notice the friendly people walking around the hospital in green shirts or aprons.
These are the Children's Hospital Foundation volunteers and they’re here to help you and your family. These volunteers provide a whole range of support and entertainment for patients and families. Including help with finding your way around the hospital and bringing toys and books to your bedside so you can have some fun.
The Children's Hospital Foundation also organizes special party days for Easter Christmas and the Ekka to name a few. Keep an eye out for posters around the hospital and at the lifts to find out when these are happening.
They also support parents and carers through their cuddle carers program. Cuddle carers help when parents and carers can't always be with their babies while they're in hospital.
The Children's Hospital foundation made Juice TV possible within the hospital. This is a TV show made by the kids in hospital for the kids in hospital. And guess what anyone can be a part of juice TV both Joy and I did.
You can view episodes by watching the juice TV channel on the patient entertainment system in your room or on their website.
This is a patient entertainment system their touchscreen and can be found throughout the hospital and in inpatient bedsides. On the system you'll find loads of other fun TV shows, movies, radio stations, games, internet and a safety briefing video which has some great information about common patient safety issues.
Oh and I bet this is a wonderland about the pet visiting area we mentioned earlier. Well you can have your pet dog or cat come and visit while you're in the hospital within this area. There are a few rules you need to follow to keep everyone safe. So to find out more about how you can have a furry visitor please chat to your nurse.
If you have any other questions remember you can find more information on our website www.childrens.health.qld.gov.au or call us on 07 3068 1111.
