Come and play

Playing is how children express their feelings. It helps them understand and cope with their illness and treatment. It also helps them feel less anxious. That’s why we’ve created a special place where children can play and forget about being in hospital for a while and just be a kid.

What you'll find

Discover Kidzone, the Starlight Express Room and Radio Lollipop, areas that offer free activities, entertainment and even supervised play so parents and carers can take a break.

  • Kidzone

Kidzone playroom is full of toys and activities for kids of all ages. Brought to you by Children’s Hospital Foundation.

  • Starlight Express Room

Join Captain Starlight and his team of amazing volunteers for games, arts and crafts and music.

  • Radio Lollipop

We broadcast live shows every day in hospital. You can win prizes, do art and crafts, and request your favourite song.

More fun and activities

There’s more to having fun at the Queensland Children’s Hospital than just the Entertainment Precinct on 6. Along with our charity partners, we also provide a wide range of entertainment services for children, young people and their families

I'm sure a lot of you are wondering if there's anything fun to do while you're in hospital, whether you are a patient or you're visiting your brother or sister. Let's start at level 6. Here we have the Starlight Express room. Where Captain Starlight invent their own brand of fun with games, movies, craft and activities for you to enjoy.

Captain Starlight also visit Kids on the Wards. And in the evenings, the Livewire team transform the Starlight Express room into a teen only hangout with heaps of cool workshops and activities. If you're under the age of eight, you'll need to have a parent or carer stay with you. You'll also find Radio Lollipop next door, which is the in house radio station for patients.

Where you can request your favourite songs, win prizes and hear yourselves on the radio. Their awesome live shows are broadcast every weeknight and on Saturdays. You can tune in to the show by using the Bedside Patient Entertainment System. If you have any other questions, remember you can find more information on our website www.childrens.health.qld.gov.au or call us on 07 3068 1111.
