We visit public high schools in Brisbane.

Students can book private appointments with our nurse and talk about a range of topics that they may not want to talk about with another adult.

Your sexual health

We can talk to you and answer any questions you have about sex, gender, puberty, relationships and contraception.

We can also give you condoms and do pregnancy testing.

TRUE
The True Relationships & Reproductive Health (True) provide sexual health services including contraception, sexual health screening, pap smears, pregnancy testing, planning and counselling.

Open Doors Youth Service
The Open Doors Youth Service support young people who identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex and LGBTI+. They also support people who are exploring their sexuality and or gender identity.

The Queensland Government website has information about safe sex, sexually transmissible infections and where to get help.

Your mental health

It's common to feel worried, sad, stressed and angry at times. But if you keep feeling like this or it's affecting your everyday life, it might be time to let someone know. We offer a safe place to talk and can also help you find more support if you need it.

The ReachOut website is an online mental health service for young people in Australia.

headspace
Create a headspace account and access online and phone counselling services. They help young people with mental, physical and sexual health, alcohol and other drugs, and work and study support.

Kids Helpline
Call Kids Helpline if you need advice, counselling or just someone to talk to – no problem is too big or too small. They’re open 24 hours a day.

Drugs and addiction

Addiction happens when someone compulsively engages in behaviour such as drug taking, gambling, drinking or gaming. We can help you find the support you need if you're drinking, taking drugs, including vaping.

Brisbane Youth Service
The Brisbane Youth Service provide a range of support and services through their Alcohol and Drug (AOD) Program. This includes one-on-one support and case management, support with legal matters and relapse prevention.

Lives Lived Well
The Lives Lived Well organisation provides free counselling for young people and their families who are experiencing difficulties with alcohol, drugs and other addictions.

For parents and health professionals

Parents and other health professionals such as school guidance counsellors, can refer students by filling in a Young Person Referral Form and emailing it to sbyhreferral@health.qld.gov.au.

For schools

Our nurses can help schools find the right health information and resources to support curriculum, teaching and learning activities.
