Weight management and type 2 diabetes
Our team of health professionals work closely with families to help them make healthy lifestyle changes. We use the strengths of each family to help them create a happy and healthy future.

Children and young people up to 18 and living in the Metro South catchment area can take part if:
- they have a mental health and or behavioural care plan from their GP or paediatrician.
- their obesity isn't a secondary or genetic cause (this is a specialised area and out of scope for our clinic).
For weight management
Babies and children from birth to 2

- Have been assessed by a paediatrician or GP to have weight concerns (above the healthy weight range).
Children and young people from 2 to 18

For type 2 diabetes
If you have type 2 diabetes, you must be referred to our clinic by the Queensland Children's Hospital Endocrinology Department.

What happens after your child gets a referral
Once a health professional has referred your child, one of our health workers will contact you to make an appointment.

Our team may include:
- multicultural health workers
- clinical nurse consultants
- diabetes educators
- dietitians
- social worker

You’ll meet with the team once a fortnight over the next 3 to 6 months. These appointments will take about an hour.
You may also have telehealth or phone appointments or take part in group exercise sessions. If you live in the Logan area, we can also visit you at home.
