Who we work with
We work with children and their families, carers and other agencies or service providers to:
- improve their social and emotional wellbeing
- help them participate in school and their community.
Read more about our services and what we offer in the online Queensland Government Child Safety Practice Manual.
We also provide planned psychoeducation and skill development to services connected to child protection. You can find education resources for health workers on the Queensland Health website.
We’re funded by the Department of Child Safety, Seniors and Disability Services (DCSSDS).
Our team
Our team may include different health professionals such as:
- psychologists
- social workers
- occupational therapists
- speech pathologists
- nursing and medical staff
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health workers.
Depending on a child's needs, they may see one or more members of our team. Each team has a psychiatrist who oversees their care.
We can arrange an interpreter for you if you're deaf, hard of hearing or speak another language.
Using our service
We can only accept referrals from the Department of Child Safety, Seniors and Disability Services (DCSSDS).
A child or young person must also:
- live in Queensland
- be aged between birth and 18
- have significant concerns with their mental health and or social and emotional wellbeing.
They must also be under an interim or finalised child protection order granting custody or guardianship to the chief executive or a child protection care arrangement during an intervention with parental agreement.
If you think we could help a child or young person you know, talk to their child safety officer from DCSSDS.
Locations
We have across 18 locations in Queensland. Two of our teams are based in Brisbane.
