How we help patients

Our pharmacists will work with you and your child’s medical team to make sure they’re getting the right medicines.

This includes:

  • talking to you about their medicine history, including any allergies, or adverse reactions they may have had
  • making sure you know how to give your child their medicine when you get home
  • giving you Medication Lists and Consumer Medicine Information (CMI) leaflets to help you understand what each medicine does.

We have 2 pharmacies.

Main pharmacy

Opening hours: Monday to Friday from 8 am to 5 pm, and weekends and public holidays from 9 am to 12 noon.

Oncology pharmacy
Level 5
Phone: 07 3068 1989
Opening hours: Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 5 pm, except public holidays.

Repeat medication service

If your child is taking regular medicines, you can leave their repeat prescription with us. It must be a hospital prescription.

When they need more, you can call or email us. You may be able to pick it up from another hospital or pharmacy closer to you, depending on the medicine. Talk to our pharmacist if this option would suit you better.

Urgent requests

If you need medicine urgently, please call us on 07 3068 1932 and ask to speak to a pharmacist.

Getting a repeat

Email or call us at least 5 working days before you want to pick up the medicine with the following information.

  • Your child’s full name
  • Your child’s date of birth
  • The medicines they need
  • When you plan to pick it up and what time
  • Your contact phone number

If you don’t tell us what day you plan to pick it up, we’ll have it ready 5 days after you’ve called or emailed us.

We’ll usually get back to you by the next business day. If you don’t get a reply, please call us on 07 3068 1900.

This is a voicemail service, so make sure you speak slowly and clearly when you’re giving us your child’s information.

We check these twice a day during the week. We don’t check on weekends or public holidays.

Getting help to pay for medicine

If your child is eligible for Medicare, you may be able to get a discount on their prescriptions.

Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander peoples may be able to get cheaper medicines. Talk to our pharmacy team when you give them your prescription.

If you are in financial hardship and having trouble paying for medicines, speak to our Social Work and Welfare team.
