The Queensland Children’s Hospital has taken its next step toward creating a digital healthcare service by converting patients to a fully integrated electronic record (ieMR). This new technology, requires staff to change how they manage your child’s information across most areas of the hospital but allows your child’s medical history, medications, tests, scans and X-rays to be kept in a single electronic record.

In a digital hospital:

  • our staff use computers instead of paper charts to record your child’s treatment
  • information can be shared among your child’s care team in real-time
  • new computer equipment and machines at the bedside will help us care for your child
  • only people with ieMR access can see your child’s file and there are policies and procedures in place to ensure that only the treating team is accessing your child’s record.
