Moana-Lynne was diagnosed with bilateral, severe-to-profound hearing loss at birth but she hasn’t let that hold her back.
Now 18 months old and fitted with bilateral cochlear implants, the Brisbane toddler is making great progress.
Since Moana-Lynne’s implant surgery, her audiology and speech therapy have proven so successful, she is performing above the average range for both her hearing age (seven months) and chronological age.
Proud parents Kyleigh and Ma’ulupe said hearing their daughter use her voice for the first time was the sweetest music to their ears.
“It was nothing short of amazing for us to hear her say a few words and sing nursery rhymes,” Kyleigh said.
“She’s doing so well – we’re so proud of her – she continues to surprise and amaze us.”
Now, Moanna-Lynne’s future is bright, she is growing and developing well, with her loving parents and two big sisters Siale, eight, and Leilani, six spurring her on.
